#Wetoo #Metoo: Table ronde sur la culture du viol et le harcèlement en danse

Cette table ronde organisée par Geneviève C. Ferron, Lara Kramer, Victoria May et Sonya Stefan avec le soutien du RQD, fait suite à la vague de réactions émanant du mouvement #metoo #moiaussi. Elle fait écho aux publications The Code of Silence de Marie-France Forcier et What Dancers Talk About When They Talk About Sexism de Ilse Ghekiere. L'affaire du Dr. Larry Nassar aux États-Unis a aussi donné l’impulsion à ce panel par les similarités qu'elle présente entre les élites sportives et la danse en ce qui concerne les abus de pouvoir, la culture du viol et le “grooming”.

Jamie Wright animera cette table ronde aux côtés des organisatrices. Marie-France Forcier présentera son ouvrage et des spécialistes des Centres d’aide et de lutte contre les agressions à caractère sexuel (C.A.L.A.C.S) introduiront le concept de "grooming" et dentifieront les manières de reconnaître les comportements abusifs. Des témoignages viendront alimenter les réflexions et un micro ouvert permettra finalement aux participants de s’exprimer sur différentes questions du type:

• Comment reconnaître le «grooming» dans le milieu de la danse?
• Que faire et vers qui me tourner si je suis victime de violence sexuelle exercée par un professeur ou un médecin ou un chorégraphe?
• Comment faire respecter mes limites et la notion de consentement en danse?
• Considérant que la peur de se mettre à dos sa communauté pèse lourdement sur la conscience de plusieurs victimes, comment pouvons-nous, la communauté, créer un espace sécuritaire et confortable pour ces victimes?

En ayant comme objectif premier de créer un espace sécuritaire, cet événement est inclusif pour toutes (trans, cis, non-binaires, s’identifiant comme femme) à l’exception des hommes cis.

This gathering organized by Geneviève C. Ferron, Lara Kramer, Victoria May et Sonya Stefan with the RQD support, follows the wave of reactions after the #metoo #moiaussi movement and the publications of  The Code of Silence by Marie-France Forcier and What Dancers Talk About When They Talk About Sexism by Ilse Ghekiere. Dr. Larry Nassar/the USA Gymnastics case, which reflects abuse of power and organizations that failed to protect elite gymnasts, is also a trigger for this panel because there are similarities of abuse and ‘grooming’ in dance and elite sport.

In addition to the organizers, Jamie Wright will be the moderator, Marie-France Forcier will talk about her publication and specialists of the Quebec coalition of sexual assault centers (C.A.L.A.C.S) will introduce the concept of ‘grooming’ and how to recognize abusive behaviour. After an exchange of some personal experiences, the floor will be open to questions and answers around:

• What are the signs of being groomed?
• Where do I get help if I am a victim of sexual violence and my abuser is my teacher/doctor/choreographer/etc.?
• How can I create boundaries and keep myself safe as a performer?
• Since the fear for the victim is often to go against the community, how can we, the community, create a safe space for them?
