Grandes Dames – Gauthier Dance/Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart
Eric Gauthier, chorégraphe d’origine québécoise et ancien soliste du Stuttgart Ballet, est désormais à la tête de Gauthier Dance // Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart. Grandes Dames est une nouvelle démonstration de son appétit pour la danse. Ce programme au féminin verra Marco Goecke – collaborateur du Ballet national du Canada et du Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), pour ne nommer qu’eux – rendre hommage à Pina Bausch. Eric Gauthier lui-même propose une pièce dédiée à l’artiste d’exception Louise Lecavalier. Helena Waldmann, la chorégraphe berlinoise passée par le théâtre, sera aussi de la partie avec une gestuelle protéiforme à la fois poétique et politique. La Montréalaise Virginie Brunelle, révélée notamment par ses pièces Foutrement et Plomb, complétera l’ensemble. En déconstruisant les techniques classiques, Brunelle rend compte d’une humanité complexe et émouvante. Grandes Dames et atout coeur.

Quebec-born choreographer Eric Gauthier, a former soloist with the Stuttgart Ballet, is now the artistic director of Gauthier Dance // Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart.
Grandes Dames is the latest expression of his love of dance. In this female-centric program, Marco Goecke— a frequent collaborator of the National Ballet of Canada and the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), to name only those two—offers an homage to Pina Bausch. Eric Gauthier himself presents a piece dedicated to outstanding artist
Louise Lecavalier, while Berlin-based choreographer and theatre artist Helena Waldmann contributes a work both poetic and political, expressed in multi-faceted movement.
Finally, Montrealer Virginie Brunelle, known for her acclaimed works Foutrement and Plomb, completes the creative quartet, deconstructing classic techniques to reveal a complex and moving humanity. Grandes Dames is all heart.
