Jessica Cumberbirch

Graduating in 1998, from the prestigious Vaganova Academy of St-Petersburg, Russia, Jessica Cumberbirch previously attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet school, the Kirov Academy, as well as l’École supérieure de ballet du Québec. She is currently a member of the Regroupement Quebecois de la danse.

Jessica’s professional ballet career began at the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur in 1998, performing in a choreography created by Daniel Baudendistel from Joffrey Ballet. Throughout her career, Jessica has toured Canada, the United States and Europe performing with Alberta Ballet, l’Opéra de Montréal , Louise Bédard Danse, Lina Cruz, Mariko Tanabe, and Kondition Pluriel, among others.

Jessica has created and performed several short pieces such as “Waiting”, which can be viewed on YouTube. She is presently working on a full-length, solo performance called “Yarns of Life”, combining her two passions, dance and knitting. Creating a unique emotional language, Cumberbirch brings together the imaginative worlds of contemporary ballet and knitting, expressing the fragility, beauty and resilience of the human spirit.

She has over 20 years of ballet teaching experience. In 2018, Jessica Cumberbirch created Studio Balletvolution, a studio focused on teaching adults ballet, offering opportunities to perform and learn in an inviting environment. 

Jessica also coaches aspiring professional dancers.
