Marcella França

Dancer, Choreographer, Instructor, Cultural worker, Designer

Marcella França is a contemporary artist, choreographer and dance performer. Her artistic practice utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to create powerfully evocative, immersive, and experiential art that speaks to the physicality of the human form.

As a contemporary choreographer and performer, she has connected and learned from some dance and improvisation companies, dance masters, and methods around the world. (GAGA Dance Method, Pina Bausch, Grupo Corpo, Debora Colcker, Counter Techniques, Martha Graham and Béjart Ballet).

With her practice of more than two decades of experience in hybrid languages mixing contemporary dance, digital technologies, and visual art, França expands the conventions of art to create public art, performances, video art, and immersive installations that investigate the relationship between nature, and contemporary existential questions intertwining with ideas of time, memory, decolonial issues, ecofeminism, and immigration.
