Châtelaine Côté-rioux

Châtelaine Côté-Rioux (she/theyl) is a contemporary dance artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal whose research focuses on the quest for sensations, meaning and encounters. During her bachelor's degree in dance at UQAM (2020), Châtelaine participated in productions by Catherine Gaudet and Parts+Labour_Danse, and developed a strong interest in the poetic and political implications of the performing arts. She enriched her background with Stéphanie Decourteille's BIG BANG training (2021) and presented her first piece, Théorie Popcorn, co-created with Pamela Aubé at Tangente's Danses Buissonnières (2022). Since then, she has worked as a performer with Le Carré des Lombes/Danièle Desnoyers, Caroline Laurin-Beaucage, Sarah Dell'Ava and a number of emerging artists, including Rozenn Lecomte and Noël Vézina. Châtelaine is currently curator of the experimental performing arts event À PART, and teaches dance workshops for young audiences with the company Bouge de là.
