Ines Chiha

Interprète, Travailleur.se culturel.le

Inès Chiha is a French-Tunisian multidisciplinary artist and performer. She began in live performance through physical theater, street theater and music. She then looks at the practice of dance through, among others, Nadia Vadori Gauthier and her project “une minute de danse par jour”, daily performances published online and which focus on poetic and politic commitment of the movement and its intervention in public spaces.
Issues linked to immigration, economic and social marginalization, particularly resonate in her practice which questions the circumstances of our identity constructions through the relationship between the protagonist, his/her speech and the performer's rehearsal process. Recently, she has questioned the notions of anonymization, assimilation and stigmatization of communities through the mimetic of elements of body language and dialectics transmitted by popular media.
In parallel with her artistic practice, she works in psychosocial intervention for organizations focused on the harm reduction approach. Having at heart meeting and collective action as a lever for social transformation, she is involved with les productions culturelle Hiatus (montréal) in order to develop strategies for accessibility to performing arts audiences.
