Call for Performers – The Red Shoes

We are seeking performers for the creation of an approximately one-hour work (The Red Shoes), to be presented to the public in 2028.

Requirements

  • Advanced-level contemporary dance training (an intermediate level is acceptable for participants aged 14–16 or over 50, for certain sections of the work).
  • Strong rhythmic skills, musicality, and expressiveness.
  • Ability to improvise throughout the creative process.
  • Singing or acting experience is considered an asset.
  • Professionalism, openness, and a positive attitude.
  • Availability for one 3-hour rehearsal every weekend from September 2026 to June 2028 in Joliette (schedule and calendar to be determined with the artists).
  • This is a semi-professional context, as no compensation is available during the creation period. Should the production generate revenue, profits will be shared.
  • Working environment: enjoyment, commitment, and self-expression.

Auditions

  • By-invitation auditions will take place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 492 rue de Lanaudière, Joliette.
  • To express your interest, please send an email by August 9 including a photo and a brief summary of your artistic background relevant to the audition to christinebrab@gmail.com. We will contact selected applicants to invite them to the audition. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
