Key Information Before Submitting Your Candidacy for the Board of Directors

Who can vote and run for office?

Only Professional Individual Members and Professional Organizational Members in good standing have voting rights and are eligible to run for the Board of Directors.

The two designated delegates from a single Organizational Member both have voting rights, but only one may run for a Board position.

A Board of Directors that reflects the dance community

All eligible members are encouraged to submit their candidacy, regardless of their level of experience. We welcome the commitment of individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varied perspectives. Through this approach, the RQD aims to gather complementary expertise on its Board and ensure balanced representation across different areas of practice, organizational models, and artistic, cultural, regional, and generational diversity.

Board composition and election process

The RQD Board of Directors consists of thirteen members:

Five individual members and five organizational members, elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for a two-year term;

Three directors appointed by the Board for a one-year term. Their appointment must then be ratified by RQD members.

Important Note: The Board proposes extending the term length for elected members from two to three years, and for the three Board-appointed members from one to two years. These amendments to the bylaws will only take effect if approved by members at the Annual General Meeting on October 27, 2026.

At the AGM on October 27, 2026…

Four seats will be up for election at our upcoming AGM on October 27:

* Two in the Professional Individual Members category

* Two in the Organizational Members category

Submit your candidacy by October 22!

To submit your candidacy, you must:

• Be an RQD member in good standing – join or renew your RQD membership
• Fill out the nomination form no later than October 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

Please note that the form will ask you to provide the following items:

• A short overview of your background and motivation—in French or English, as you prefer—in the form of a short text (200 words max) or a video (90 seconds max). Please follow all instructions outlined in the form;
• A high-resolution photo of yourself in JPEG format;
• Your preferred mode for presenting your candidacy during the election: speaking directly to your electoral category, having your text read by the chief electoral officer, or playing your video. Unable to attend the AGM? No problem: your text can be read or your video played on your behalf.

Appointed in June 2026 by the Board, Rodolphe Demers will serve as the Chief Electoral Officer for this fall’s elections. He will gather candidacies and verify compliance with official procedures. Candidates’ names and photos will then be published on the RQD website on October 23, 2026, in accordance with the bylaws.

• Deadline to join or renew your RQD membership to guarantee your candidacy and/or voting rights.
• Deadline to submit your candidacy via the official form. No candidacies will be accepted after this deadline.

• RQD Annual General Meeting at Cabaret Lion d’Or in Montreal, Maison pour la danse in Quebec City, or via videoconference (the access link will be sent at a later date).
