Description
Staff retention is a crucial issue today for strengthening cultural organizations, particularly in the dance, theatre and visual arts sectors. Compensation goes beyond salary. Taking a total compensation approach means considering the full range of monetary and non-monetary levers that can help recognize employees’ contributions, improve working conditions, and foster engagement and retention.
This training will help cultural workers understand total compensation as a sustainable management practice that contributes to strengthening their organization, and identify the levers they can realistically use based on their resources and organizational reality.
Objectives
- Understand what total compensation encompasses and distinguish between its monetary and non-monetary components.
- Recognize the needs addressed by different forms of compensation.
- Understand how a salary grid works and how to adjust it over time (indexation).
- Identify the most effective total compensation levers based on your sector and your organization’s reality.
- Examine your current practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Integrate your compensation practices into a broader consideration of work organization, team management and resource planning.
