Objective

Why fluidity, and to what extent? This concept takes on different forms depending on the practice that explores it. It serves as a starting point for reflecting, in embodied ways, on the movements that inhabit us, so that we may situate ourselves within those yet to come. This workshop is rooted in a process-oriented approach, allowing the concerns of the bodies present to speak, move and shift.

The aim is not to attempt to define fluidity, but rather to explore its transformative qualities—both personal and collective—through various so-called ‘fluid’ practices.

Content

Through a variety of so-called ‘fluid’ practices, participants will be guided through four dimensions of a fluid body: experiential, material, conceptual and political. Together, we will immerse ourselves in somatic experiences inspired by the Continuum, allow alter egos inspired by drag to emerge, and enter into a dialogue with the element of water through dance. Over the course of the week, we will collectively construct a performative space to reflect on the concerns of the bodies present: creating a creative context in which to set ourselves in motion within a world in motion.

Although this workshop draws on theoretical tools from critical theory and post-humanist, feminist and queer epistemologies, it places the experience of the body at the forefront of the reflections that will emerge from it.
