Hanako Hoshimi-Caines

Born in 1981, Hanako studied at L’École Supérieure de Danse du Québec, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, from which she graduated in 2001. Since graduating she has danced with a diverse range of companies and independent choreographers.

Biographie

Born in 1981, Hanako Hoshimi-Caines studied at L’École Supérieure de Danse du Québec, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, from which she graduated in 2001. Since graduating she has danced with a diverse range of companies and independent choreographers, such as the Caravan Stage Barge Company, Ohio Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Louis-Martin Charest, Cas Public (Hélène Blackburn) (2003-2006), Jane Mappin, Carpe Diem (Emmanuel Jouthe), Ezdanza (Edgar Zendejas) and most recently with José Navas/company Flak from 2008-2010. In 2007, Hanako created Little Bang Theory, her first full-length piece with singer-songwriter Lhasa de Sela. In 2009, she co-founded the multi-disciplinary collective Little Bang Creations, with writer James Irwin and visual artist March Hutchinson. Her most recent piece, Where the river got the water, was performed at the Suoni per il popolo international music festival in June 2010. Hanako Hoshimi-Caines joined Cullberg Ballet in autumn 2010.
