Stéphane Labbé
Gestionnaire
A graduate of L’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal in 2002, Stéphane began his career as a performer alongside Bill Coleman and Audrey Thibaudault in Man inc. by Jacques Languirand, choreographed by Laurence Lemieux. He also appeared in several dance films produced by Cine Qua Non films, working with choreographers Estelle Clarton, Hélène Blackburn, and Danielle Tardif.
In 2004, Stéphane joined Tangente, first as Production Director and later as Programming Assistant. In 2010, he became Co-Director alongside Dena Davida, contributing to the organization’s strategic development, the creation of internal policies, and the realization of the Wilder – Espace danse project.
He later joined Ballets Jazz Montréal (BJM) as Executive Director, where he led a major organizational restructuring that established a more integrated governance model, enabling Alexandra Damiani to also assume the role of Executive Director. This transition strengthened the company’s artistic mission and long-term sustainability.
With over twenty years of experience in cultural management, Stéphane has led multidisciplinary teams and overseen significant transformations in governance, touring, and digital strategy. Deeply engaged in the dance community, he has served on the boards of La Danse sur les routes du Québec, the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD), and currently sits on the Board of L’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. He also chaired the Emerging Artists Working Group as part of the Grands Chantiers de la danse organized by the RQD.
Driven by a strong sense of collective purpose and a curiosity for emerging technologies, Stéphane is currently pursuing studies in Artificial Intelligence at the Université de Montréal, exploring how innovation can strengthen the vitality and equity of the cultural sector.
