Gabriela Guerra woo

Chorégraphe, Travailleur.se culturel.le, Concepteur.rice, Interprète

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Dance from the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey, and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Universidad de Monterrey.

In her early years as a performer, she was part of the cast of several Mexican dance companies, including Realizando Ideas, Producción UNAM, UX Ono Danza, Danza Bizarra, Utopía Danza Teatro, Barro Rojo, Pálido Teatro, Ballet Independiente, Ocho Segundos, and Danza Visual, participating with them in national and international tours and festivals.

She conceives the body as a space of dissent—a place to reveal what traverses it: the personal, the political, and the poetic—using improvisation and sound exploration as means to evoke emotional states.

Since 2018, she has alternated her residence between the cities of Montreal, Mexico City, and Torreón. This mobility has allowed her to engage as both creator and cultural producer across different contexts, shaping her own scenic and visual discourse, often autobiographical.

She is a member of the Red de Investigadores de Danza (Mexico) and is currently developing the project “From the Desired Body to the Lived Body”, a research-creation on the hegemonic discourse of beauty, in pursuit of a Master’s degree in Promotion and Development of Cultural Projects from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila.

At present, she works as an independent performing artist in Montreal, creating personal projects and collaborating with other local artists.
