Paid Internship Opportunity – Event Coordination (DémART)

Espace Perreault Transmissions chorégraphiques is seeking a candidate from a culturally diverse background for an internship position as Project Coordinator as part of the DémART program from the Conseil des arts de Montréal.

Our organization is dedicated to research and research-creation related to dance practices and memories; it fosters reflection and develops mediation tools around creation, documentation, and transmission processes in dance. It is open to a plurality of voices and experimentation.

The DémART internship offers work experience in the cultural sector, allowing the intern to gain insight into the Montreal arts scene and how it operates, while also developing their professional career.

In close collaboration with the team, the selected person will actively participate in the activities of Espace Perreault. They will primarily coordinate the logistics for the reflection days Memories, Identities, and Decolonial Practices in Dance, which will take place at MAI | Montréal, arts interculturels on April 9 and 10, 2026. This event, open to all dance communities, will highlight the diversity of dance practices by addressing the issues connecting identity, memory, colonialism, and artistic creation.

Eligibility and Status:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Belong to a culturally diverse group (ethnocultural or visible minority)
  • Be an immigrant, newcomer, or first-generation individual
  • Reside on the Island of Montreal

Additionally, the person must either:

  • Have experience in the cultural field acquired in a country other than Canada, which has not yet been fully recognized here (i.e., they have worked little or not at all in Canada in a cultural environment that acknowledges their skills)

or

  • Be born outside of Canada but have grown up here, and have not been able to fully integrate into the cultural sector despite having degrees or artistic experience.

Internship duration: 30 weeks, from January 5 to June 30, 2026

The CAM offers $12,000 for the internship, covering 600 hours at an hourly rate of $20 — however, Espace Perreault may increase this amount depending on the subsidies the organization receives.

Experience or strong interest in dance is considered an asset.

Application deadline: August 29, 2025

Please send your letter of intent and CV to:
Lise Gagnon, Executive Director, dg@espaceperreault.ca

Please note that the internship offer is subject to a successful joint application by Espace Perreault and the selected intern to the DémART program.
