Coordinator – Danse contre la violence

Danse contre la violence (Dance Against Violence) works to support the well-being of women and their children who are survivors of various forms of violence. Through movement-based workshops offered in women’s shelters and centres, DCV helps participants reconnect with their bodies, rebuild confidence, and break isolation, while also strengthening family bonds when needed.

In collaboration with the Administrative and Development Director at Montréal Danse and in direct communication with the facilitator-dancers and shelter partners, the Coordinator of Danse contre la violence will be responsible for multiple aspects of workshop coordination, project development, and fundraising.

Responsibilities

Logistics & Administration

  • Maintain regular communication with partner organizations (shelters and women’s centres) and facilitator-dancers
  • Produce and manage the workshop calendar
  • Invoice follow-ups
  • Budget monitoring

Development

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director to shape and develop the long-term vision of the project
  • Work with facilitator-dancers to develop new workshops
  • Organize additional training sessions for facilitator-dancers
  • Maintain, nurture, and strengthen relationships with current partners (shelters, community centres, local organizations, etc.)
  • Develop new partnerships, including:
    • Other community or cultural organizations
    • Academic institutions (CEGEPs, universities, research centres)
    • Stakeholders from the arts or health sectors
  • Collaborate with Montréal Danse’s Communications Coordinator to enhance the visibility of the organization and its initiatives across relevant networks

Fundraising

  • Coordinate philanthropic fundraising efforts and campaigns
  • Research and write grant applications

Start date: Ideally end of September

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Full fluency in written and spoken French; strong command of English
  • Strong writing skills in French
  • Ability to work within a small team
  • Autonomy, strong organizational skills, initiative, and versatility
  • Good listening skills and empathy

Assets

  • Experience and/or knowledge of contemporary dance
  • Minimum of two years of experience in support services and/or work with women or individuals in vulnerable situations

Position Details

  • Start date: as early as September 22, no later than October 13
  • Permanent part-time position: 20 hours/week
  • Office located in downtown Montreal
  • Salary: $22.50 to $25/hour, plus benefits
