Call for applicants | CAPAS

CAPAS’ NEW CREATION

CAPAS is looking for performers for its upcoming choreographic project, which will be unveiled soon. The creation period is scheduled for June 2026, followed by a tour across Quebec during the 2026-2027 season. No details about the project will be revealed at this time; we’re seeking instinctive applications, driven by each individual’s impulse, uniqueness, and sensibility.

ABOUT CAPAS

CAPAS is an independent dance label founded by Lydie Revez and Mickaël Spinnhirny, active since 2018 across Quebec and beyond. Initially conceived as a platform for disseminating contemporary dance, CAPAS has established itself as a structuring force in the field, particularly through its ability to showcase works outside major centers, build bridges between the Quebec scene and the international stage, and propose innovative models for artistic circulation. Since 2022, CAPAS has also taken on the role of show producer, developing its own creations, including La question des fleurs (2023) and Minuit quelque part (2024).

Our vision of dance:

CAPAS advocates for dance that is accessible, demanding, rooted in humanity, and open to the world. We believe that movement can be transformative, that space can become porous, and that the audience can be complicit. We value artists who embody a vision, who are capable of entering into a profound dialogue with a work, and who are not afraid to challenge established formats.

Our values:

  • Transparency and respect for working conditions
  • Uniqueness of artistic voices
  • Dialogue between territories, generations, cultures
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Experimentation and the joy of creation

DESIRED PROFILE

We are looking for performers based in Quebec:

  • With a strong stage presence
  • Possessing a great capacity for improvisation
  • With an excellent understanding of French
  • Curious, rigorous, sensitive, and generous in collaborative work

We accept applications from all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, or cultural origin.

WORKING CONDITIONS

In the spirit of complete transparency, here are the conditions offered for this project. The process is relatively short because the show is entirely conceived beforehand and relies on a solid structure of guided improvisation, leaving ample room for interpretation:

  • Creation: 40 hours from June 8 to 16, 2026 / $35 per hour
  • Rehearsal: 20 hours in September 2026 / $35 per hour
  • Performance: between September 2026 and May 2027 / $300 per performance

All details will be outlined in a clear and equitable employment contract, to be established at the time of final selection.

APPLICATION FORM

Please complete the form by July 11, 2025.

Successful candidates will be contacted for the next steps in the process in August 2025. Please do not follow up; we commit to responding to all applicants in due course.
