FOCUS – Research and Creation Residency for Deaf Artists

The residency program aims to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing artists in developing a new project, exploring a new technique, or continuing the creation of an ongoing work.

A video in LSQ (Langue des signes québécoise) and ASL (American Sign Language) explaining the program is available on our website.

The selected artist will receive a fee of $2,500. They will also have free access to Vidéographe’s facilities and equipment, up to a value of $1,000. Depending on the nature of their project, selected candidates will have access to editing and color grading rooms, the experimentation room, the sound booth, as well as Vidéographe’s analog and digital video and digitization equipment. If the project exceeds this value, further access will be offered at the discounted member rate.

The selected artist will also receive a free one-year regular membership, which includes all member privileges at Vidéographe.

If requested, LSQ/ASL interpretation services will be provided. This residency is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the artist’s needs.

The mentorship period lasts one year, culminating in a final presentation held at Vidéographe’s premises.
