In a rich and diverse artistic and cultural environment, understanding intercultural dynamics is essential to fostering inclusive and respectful dialogue. This workshop will analyze the connections between intercultural and interpersonal dimensions of communication, identify the values that shape cultural norms, and decode the verbal and non-verbal codes specific to each culture. Participants will leave with concrete strategies to integrate diversity into their artistic and organizational practices.

Over the course of two sessions, you will take part in interactive discussions, practical exercises, and moments of individual reflection. You will come away with concrete tools to encourage inclusive dialogue, strengthen collaboration, and create more harmonious and welcoming artistic environments.

 

Objectives

  • Understand the relationship between intercultural and interpersonal communication.
  • Identify key values and co-cultures that influence exchanges.
  • Recognize the verbal and non-verbal codes specific to each culture.
  • Acquire the attitudes, knowledge, and skills required for effective intercultural communication.
  • Develop concrete strategies to integrate diversity into artistic and organizational practices.
  • Build tools to restore dialogue and promote living together.

Methodology

  • Interactive discussions and case studies.
  • Small-group practical exercises via Zoom.
  • Individual reflection sheet between the two sessions.
  • Pre- and post-training surveys to assess expectations and measure impact.

Artists, cultural workers, managers, and administrators in dance and other artistic disciplines.

Chloé Saintesprit is an equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) consultant, trainer, and speaker. A former dance performer and cultural worker, they put their expertise at the service of the arts and organizations.

They hold degrees in dance (UQAM), management (HEC Montréal), and communication and administration (Paris), as well as a certification in DEI Strategies for Business Impact from Cambridge Judge Business School.

Chloé also serves on several boards of directors in the cultural and community sector. They are currently completing a graduate-level microprogram in organizational development at HEC Montréal with the goal of transforming organizational practices for greater justice, representation, and inclusion.
