“Reappropriation of the Body” is a class designed to introduce participants to—or help them revisit—the free exploration of dance movement. Benjamin Herrero, who leads the class, draws inspiration from somatic practices (such as the Feldenkrais Method), Gaga dance, and yoga, as well as, more recently, the concept of Queer Pedagogy, which he uses to deconstruct physical blockages through play. The class is therefore adapted to all body types without judgment and aims to move away from the aesthetic pursuit of movement or the performance of gestures.
This is a 2-hour class designed to take the time to reconnect with the body and others in an inclusive spirit, where the joy of movement is prioritized.
