Gyrokinesis (online)
This method invites you into your slinky mermaid slither by developing balance between soft tissue and bone – releasing blockages through circular, spiral and undulating movements leading to refined spinal articulation and a supple, dynamic core.
Here, we use breath and movement to address the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength from the top of the head to the tips of the fingers and toes. This practice is performed entirely on a chair. We arch, we curl, we side arch, we twist and expand the spine in every which direction. This method supports dancers and athletes release physical tension and find symmetry while accommodating people with less active lines, looking to unwind their spine from the weight of daily life. All levels are welcome.
Juliu Horvath (creator of the GYROKINESIS® method) was a dancer who injured a spinal disk that ended his dance career. After this injury, he trained in kundalini yoga, and developed what later became the GYROKINESIS® method. Juliu suffered from multiple herniated disks and brought himself back into movement after being in so much pain that he couldn’t pick up a glass of water. Drawing from Kundalini yoga, internal martial arts and dance – these movement sequences ride the rise and fall of the breath to develop strength and flexibility from the inside out.
Be has completed their training with master trainer, Dana Gingras. Their class is further informed by studies in Traditional Chinese and Daoist Medicine including Qigong, Tai Chi and Kung-Fu.
