Dance Workshop Open to Public – Sankofa Danzafro
Accompanied by dancers, Rafael Palacios demonstrates the blend of dance styles, histories, traditions and philosophies behind Sankofa Danzafro’s unique choreographic language.
Limited number of participants.
His style, both traditional and contemporary, reflects the struggle for existence and the resurgence of black communities in Colombia. It draws on expressions preserved by an interpretation that lives in the present moment, danced by adults, young people and children. The workshop will explore the various traditional Afro-Colombian dances that inspire the company: the Afro-Colombian dances of the North and South regions on the Pacific side of the country, as well as the dances of Currulao, Bullerengue, Abosao, Tamborito and Jota that make up the Urabá Antioqueño region.
