An email that appears to come from a colleague or trusted supplier. An urgent payment request. A fake Microsoft 365 or Google security alert. A message prompting you to reset your password.
Cybercriminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated, using convincing messages and familiar scenarios to create a sense of urgency and pressure people into acting without thinking. Their goal is simple: to get you to click a malicious link, disclose sensitive information, respond to a fraudulent request, or enter your credentials on a fake website.
Once an account has been compromised, the consequences can extend far beyond a stolen password. Cybercriminals may gain access to confidential emails, organizational documents, and personal information—or use the compromised account to target colleagues, partners, and other contacts.
How can you recognize these threats before it’s too late? And what should you do if an incident occurs ?
Objectives
This practical webinar will help you understand how online fraud and phishing attacks work, identify the warning signs of suspicious communications, and develop the habits needed to protect yourself and your organization.
You will also learn how to strengthen account security through better password management and multi-factor authentication. Finally, the session will cover the essential steps to take when a cybersecurity incident occurs, from containing the threat and limiting potential damage to documenting the incident appropriately.
What You’ll Learn
- Understand common fraud tactics: Explore how phishing, impersonation, and other online scams work.
- Recognize psychological manipulation: Identify how cybercriminals exploit urgency, fear, trust, and curiosity to influence decisions.
- Spot the warning signs: Learn to identify suspicious emails, messages, links, and fraudulent requests.
- Think before you click: Apply a straightforward verification process before responding, sharing information, or accessing unfamiliar websites.
- Strengthen password security: Adopt effective practices for creating, storing, and managing passwords.
- Add an extra layer of protection: Understand how multi-factor authentication (MFA) helps prevent unauthorized access.
- Detect compromised accounts: Recognize unusual activity and other indicators that an account may have been breached.
- Respond to cybersecurity incidents: Learn which immediate actions can help contain a threat and minimize its impact.
- Document incidents effectively: Understand what information to record and how to maintain an accurate incident log.
Target audience
All publics.
