Workshop : Ivanie Aubin-Malo – Yaliyat cocahq / Travelling spirit

Objective

The Wabanaki Confederacy includes the First Nations Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, and Abenaki. Being Wolastoq, Ivanie will share certain words in the Wolastoqey language that describe important aspects of this culture. You will then be invited to embody them during group explorations.

The orientation of movements and displacements will be determined in such a way as to position you to better receive the knowledge intrinsic to the culture. Since the principle of interrelation is fundamental to the research, you will also have the opportunity to develop an increased sensitivity to the common movements of the group, reminiscent of the synergy of waves.

Lysanne O’bomsawin will begin each day with an hour of traditional Abenaki dance.

Content

Opening with a circle, traditional Abenaki dance, readings, sharing of visual documents, guided travels through movement and voice, improvisation, duo and group explorations, feedback, closing circle.
