Context
The dance community, rich in unique energy and numerous initiatives, feels more than ever the need to consolidate itself as a true ecosystem. The 2025-2030 Roadmap for Professional Dance in Quebec (RDA) proposes to strengthen this collective dynamic by offering shared spaces for dialogue, in order to explore together promising avenues for addressing a constantly evolving economic, social, and institutional reality.
From the previous Master Plan (2011–2021) to a new sectoral approach
The 2011-2021 Master Plan for Professional Dance in Quebec, developed following the General Assembly on Dance and an exhaustive consultation process, highlighted crucial issues for the sector, some of which remain relevant today. The current context demands a shift in approach that takes into account contemporary realities and the evolution of artistic practices. This is essential to strengthen the inclusion of all stakeholders. This approach requires examining the mechanisms for consultation and operation within the sector.
The 2025-2030 update of the master plan reflects a commitment to providing a dynamic approach, capable of adapting to the challenges and needs of the sector. It aims to coordinate efforts by offering a flexible and responsive collective framework.
Rather than a traditional, prescriptive master plan, we opted for a collaborative roadmap that prioritizes action and is continuously enriched by the reflections and contributions of those involved. The document is not simply a list of actions. It serves as a basis for collective reflection on systemic challenges and proposes avenues for experimentation and dialogue, informed by real-world experience and the expertise of its key stakeholders.
Applications received may also be considered for the Roadmap working groups, for which the call for applications will be open from March 23 to April 7.
