Cultural Mediation Manager
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cultural Mediation Manager will oversee all cultural mediation activities of the Festival Quartiers Danses (year-round programming).
Oversee the development and management of the cultural mediation department
- Develop and plan cultural mediation programs and activities (renewed or new), offered throughout the year and during the annual Festival
- Recruit, train, and supervise the team of cultural mediators
- Contribute to drafting grant applications and funding requests to public and private bodies for cultural mediation activities
- Develop budgetary frameworks for the department and ensure financial follow-up for programs and activities
- Evaluate the implementation of programs and activities and produce cultural mediation grant reports
- Develop the long-term strategy for the cultural mediation department in collaboration with the broader FQD team
Coordinate the delivery of cultural mediation activities
- Plan, organize, and oversee the implementation of the organization’s cultural mediation programs, services, and dance-related activities
- Recruit and coordinate professional artists and choreographers involved in activities and programs; negotiate fees
- Identify and maintain relationships with operational partners for each project and activity (collaborating organizations, community organizations, etc.)
- Participate in and support the delivery of cultural mediation workshops
- Troubleshoot challenges and unexpected issues related to the implementation of activities
- Carry out administrative and financial follow-ups for activities and liaise with administrative management when needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education in cultural animation, cultural studies, or any relevant field
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Ability to work with diverse audiences (e.g., seniors, mental health communities, people with intellectual disabilities, children, teens, young adults, etc.); experience in mediation, facilitation, and/or audience engagement
- Good knowledge of the Montréal community, cultural, and nonprofit landscape
- Entrepreneurial and creative mindset to develop new projects
- Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy; strong listening skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Creativity, resourcefulness, sound judgment, and autonomy
- Comfortable traveling regularly to various Montréal neighborhoods
- Proficiency with office software (Excel, Word, Google Drive)
- Excellent command of written and spoken French, and strong knowledge of written and spoken English; ability to write clearly in both languages
- Dance practice and/or strong interest in the performing arts and contemporary dance
- Knowledge of the dance or performing arts sector
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
- Full-time position (30 to 35 hours/week)
- Permanent position
- Salary according to the established pay scale: starting at $24/hour, depending on profile and experience
- Partial remote work and flexible scheduling
- Access to all performances in the FQD program and regular invitations to dance events in Montréal throughout the year
