Call for Submissions for the 24th Edition of Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) is Now Open!
Do you want to be part of the lineup for the 24th edition of FQD?
FQD invites local and Canadian choreographers and companies to present a Montreal, Canadian, or world premiere, or a revival, during the 24th edition, which will take place from September 10 to 20, 2025.
FQD is a showcase for emerging, mid-career, and established contemporary dance artists. You can submit your application for our indoor and urban programming now!
For Indoor Programming:
- Proposed works must be created for indoor performance
- Duration should be 10–20 minutes for Emerging and Mid-career choreographers
- Duration can be 10–45 minutes for Established choreographers
For Urban Programming:
- Proposed works must be created for outdoor performance (no In Situ works meaning works created specifically for a site and responding to it)
- Choreographic works with a full musical score are prioritized
- Duration should be 5 minutes for Emerging choreographers
- Duration should be 10–15 minutes for Rising choreographers
- Duration should be 10–30 minutes for Mid-career and Established choreographers
Experience Levels Defined:
- Emerging: 5 years of experience or less
- Rising: 6–9 years of experience
- Mid-career: 10–19 years of experience
- Established: 20+ years of experience, international career
What FQD Offers Programmed Artists:
- Fair performance fees
- Free access to rehearsal spaces in studio and/or outdoors prior to the festival
- Video recording of the entire work by our official videographer
- Photos of the performance taken by our official dance photographer
- A platform to connect with local, national, and international presenters
Costs Not Covered by FQD (except for certain international collaboration projects):
- Travel expenses
- Accommodation
- Per diem
- Design and pre-production costs
- Rehearsal costs
Submission Guidelines & Conditions:
It is important to provide a complete video of the proposed work to facilitate accurate evaluation. For new creations, a representative video reflecting the artistic intentions and aesthetic may also be submitted.
Documents to Submit:
- A short letter of interest specifying the section you are applying for, with a brief description of your project and artistic approach
- A letter of recommendation (optional, except for Emerging choreographers)
- Biography of the choreographer, collective, or company, and a CV of the choreographer
- Video of the entire proposed creation
- Recent video of the choreographer’s or company’s past work
To apply for the 24th edition of FQD, please submit this form before Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 11:59 PM. No applications will be accepted after this deadline. Only complete applications will be considered.
