Seeking for Technical Director for OFFTA 2026

The OFFTA Festival is looking for the ideal person to take on this exciting mandate!

The OFFTA is a festival dedicated to cutting-edge emerging creation in the live arts. Founded alongside the Festival TransAmériques (FTA), OFFTA showcases creators whose engaged and distinctive practices break new artistic ground.

The OFFTA Festival supports and promotes diversity within its teams as well as employment equity. Employment conditions

  • Contract position from January 2026 to June 2026
  • Part-time: January 5 to April 20, 2025
  • Full-time: April 21 to June 12, 2025 (availability during the festival period will be intensive)
  • Flat-rate fee to be determined according to experience

Job description

Under the authority of the General Management of LA SERRE and in collaboration with the Festival’s Production Director, the person responsible for technical direction for OFFTA 2026 will coordinate all technical aspects of the festival’s shows and events, across the various venues where they will take place.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Act as the main technical resource for artists and host venues during events
  • Coordinate, in close collaboration with the production direction, all stages of production and ensure adherence to the established timeline
  • Plan, assess, and oversee technical needs for shows (technical drawings and specs, equipment rentals, transportation and purchases, and technical crew requirements) in line with budget forecasts
  • Develop and coordinate set-up and tear-down schedules, ensure smooth operations, and participate when necessary
  • Supervise companies and artists for the shows assigned to you
  • Analyze technical riders and ensure the technical and logistical feasibility of all projects selected by the programming committee
  • Create and implement the general lighting, sound, and video hanging plans for the various performance venues
  • Hire, supervise, and direct technicians
  • Run shows when required
  • Plan and coordinate the transportation of technical equipment between venues, the warehouse, and rental locations
  • Establish lists of required materials for each venue and actively ensure their return within the prescribed deadlines
  • Perform any other duties related to the mandate

Required skills and profile

  • Degree in production or stage technology (required)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • Strong sense of autonomy and resourcefulness
  • Functional English
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (an asset)
  • Proficiency with AutoCad and VectorWorks software
  • Technical knowledge in lighting, sound, and video
