Seeking for Technical Assistant

Founded in 2005, Casteliers is a presenting organization specialized in theatre dedicated to the puppet arts. The organization produces an annual international festival and a regular season program, hosts artists in residence, and offers a wide range of cultural mediation activities for citizens of all generations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Director of Production and Technical Services, the Technical Assistant’s main role is to provide support in Casteliers’ various activities at the Maison internationale des arts de la marionnette and off-site. This person may act as workshop head, stage technician, and stage manager for scheduled performances.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome and provide technical support and material needs for activities (rentals, creation residencies, performances, workshops, training, etc.);
  • Participate in set-ups and take-downs;
  • Be present during events;
  • Take part in the maintenance of equipment and the building;
  • Participate in team meetings;
  • Perform any other related tasks.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Training or solid knowledge in stage technology (lighting, sound, video);
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and carpentry;
  • Computer skills (Qlab, Office Suite, Google Drive, Mac and PC environments);
  • Strong manual skills and knowledge of the standard tools used in a workshop.

DESIRED APTITUDES

  • Organizational skills, teamwork ability, strong communication skills;
  • Creativity, versatility, and autonomy;
  • Fluency in French and good knowledge of English.

JOB CONDITIONS

  • Candidate must be eligible for the Emploi Québec wage subsidy program, “first work experience” component;
  • Driver’s license an asset;
  • Full-time position / 35 hours per week;
  • Variable schedule – evening and weekend availability required;
  • Contract duration: October 27, 2025 to March 20, 2026;
  • Salary to be discussed.
