Move & Explore in Water – Small Group & Private Classes for Dancers and Movers

Hi, I’m Maria Mantia Papathanasiou.

I’ve spent my life in motion—from high-performance artistic swimming to over four years in the world of gymnastics, and later, as a professional dancer trained in ballet and a wide range of contemporary dance styles. My path has been intense, creative, and at times, physically demanding.

That journey led me to develop Contemporary Synchro Art (CsA)—a method born from experience, passion, and a need to integrate strength, breath, adaptability, and care.

Now, I offer private and small group sessions (max 3 people) in the pool, designed specifically for dancers and movers. These sessions are not for beginners, but for people who already have a connection with their body and understand what it means to train, refine, and feel.

💧 What to expect:

• A blend of swimming, contemporary dance, stretching, and apnea (breath work)
• Alternating high-speed and low-speed training, essential for building responsiveness, fluidity, and endurance
• Precision work to develop strength, control, and joint freedom
• Techniques rooted in both athletic rehab and creative exploration
• A safe and inspiring space to challenge, release, and transform your practice

These sessions are ideal if you’re:

• A dancer or mover seeking new physical language in the water
• Looking to support or cross-train your studio practice
• Recovering from injury and want a non-impact yet rigorous space
• Wanting to reawaken your strength, presence, and coordination.
• 📍 Classes take place in public pool facilities in Ville Saint-Laurent, Montréal Private or 👥 semi-private format (1–3 participants)
  Flexible weekday and early evening schedule
  You need to come with a foundation in movement, and a willingness to work across a full spectrum of effort—from quiet presence to athletic intensity.
