Technical Director

SHOWS – Preproduction

  • Assess the technical and budgetary feasibility of planned shows and provide advice and recommendations on venue selection;
  • Offer support for developing creation projects;
  • Evaluate the specific needs of each show (lighting, sound, video, rigging, stage) based on the venue, prepare the complete list of technical equipment rentals, and follow up on quotes and supplier selection;
  • Produce and adapt technical drawings (stage layout, seating plans, etc.), including those provided by the companies;
  • Draw up the list of elements to be built, prepare construction specifications in agreement with the company, and oversee quotes, execution, and delivery;
  • Prepare technical schedules for set-ups and have them validated;
  • Collaborate with the production management team to determine audience capacities;
  • Set up surtitles according to venues and shows (training offered by FTA);
  • Maintain good relationships with venue technical directors and suppliers;
  • Ensure the execution of shows in collaboration with other members of the technical direction and venue teams;
  • Oversee the logistical coordination of the technical department (sharing equipment between projects, local transportation of gear between venues, finding technical solutions, etc.);
  • Plan the local, national, and international transport of stage equipment and materials;
  • Welcome and provide technical support to guest companies;
  • Supervise technical teams during set-ups and strikes;
  • Participate in equipment transport when required;
  • Recruit and supervise the following personnel: technical direction assistants, technical coordinators, transport coordinator, technicians, and drivers.
