Lila Geneix

Chorégraphe, Enseignant.e, Interprète

Originally from France, Lila Geneix graduated in dance from UQAM in 2020. Her choreographic career was rewarded with the David Kilburn Prize (2022), awarded by the UQAM Dance Department x Fondation UQAM.

In 2019, she joined the Emmanuel Jouthe / Danse Carpe Diem company, initially as a performer and taking part in several cultural mediation projects. She later took on the role of project manager.

Since arriving in Quebec, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with Sarah Dell'Ava, Aurélie Pédron, Katia-Marie Germain and Danièle Desnoyers. In 2021-2022, she will be creating a dramaturgical notebook for Catherine Gaudet.

In parallel with her career as a performer, she is developing a choreographic approach based on the body's relationship with the pictorial image and its environment.

Her first creation, the duet Conjurer La (S)Cène, was presented at Danses Buissonnières (2022), at the Écomusée du fier monde as part of the Nuit aux Flambeaux (2023) and at the Vue sur la relève festival (2023). With this work, she joins the Jouer Dehors program of Danse sur les routes.
