Lou Amsellem

After practicing competitive artistic gymnastics for eight years, Lou Amsellem discovered dance and decided to devote herself fully to it.
Based in Montreal, she began her training in the scholarship program at Louise Lapierre Dance School (Montreal), where she studied ballet, contemporary, tap, hip-hop, and jazz. She was also a dancer in competitive hip-hop and contemporary teams.
Lou graduated from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal in 2021, where she spent three years collaborating with choreographers such as Heidi Strauss, Riley Sims, Sébastien Provencher, Virginie Brunelle, and James Viveiros.
Right after graduating, Lou joined Sylvain Émard Danse to perform in the piece Rhapsodie. In 2023, she collaborated with choreographer Yesenia Fuentes on a future creation. Since 2024, Lou has been on an international tour performing in Amour, acide et noix by Daniel Léveillé as one of the four dancers (Italy, Montpellier, New York, Vancouver, Toronto).
Both a model and a dancer, she has appeared in several music videos, commercials, and television shows (TVA, Oikos Danone Canada, Casino du Lac Leamy, Chanteurs masqués, Planet Giza…).
In 2020, she co-founded the collective Horizons, within which she creates and performs pieces marked by animalistic, instinctive movement that is also sensitive and human. She is particularly interested in the physical risks involved in the use of objects in space.
Lou has been sharing her passion since 2018 by teaching contemporary and commercial dance.
