Laura Jeffery is a Dancer / Choreographer / Musician from Tio’tia:ke / Montreal. She is a 2021 graduate from the contemporary dance program at Concordia University, recipient of the James Saya Award, participant in the Atlas 2021 Further Choreographic Training Program and 2023 DanceWEB scholarship at Impulstanz. During her time in Vienna she worked on research projects with Jennifer Lacey, Keith Hennesy, Ishmael Houston Jones and received mentorship from Guy Cools, Clara Furey and Lara Kramer.
Laura explores the fusion of dance, music, and performance. She approaches dancemaking through the lens and influence of music and works to subvert hierarchical performance forms. Laura's work explores intensity, playfulness, effort and imperfection.
She has presented her dance work locally at LOL Festival, Festival Entr’actes, Suoni per il Popolo, ParBleux, Tangente, and Studio 303. Her collaborative work includes projects with dance artists such as Sasha Kleinplatz, Nien Tzu Weng, Camille Lacelle-Wilsey, Angelique Willkie, and Katie Ward. She has also choreographed music videos for artists including Basia Bulat, Ribbon Skirt, and Lungbutter, among others. As a musician, she has played, recorded, and toured internationally with multiple bands, including Fountain, Laughing, Heaven for Real, N NAO, and Zad Kokar & les Combi Beyaz.
