Hortense SIERKA
Interprète
Originally from Marseille (France), Hortense discovered her artistic calling at the Municipal Conservatory of Marignane. At the age of 17, she joined the Regional Conservatory of Lille, where she spent two years in the preparatory program for higher education and obtained her Technical Proficiency Exam (EAT).
Enriched by this training, she moved to Canada and entered the performance program at the Contemporary Dance School of Montreal. Graduating in 2025, Hortense now serves as a bridge between Europe and Canada.
The richness of the program offered her the opportunity to collaborate with choreographers from diverse backgrounds and to explore a wide variety of choreographic materials. Among the choreographers she has performed for are: Sofia Nappi, Ohad Naharin, Shahar Binyamini, Catherine Gaudet, Dana Gingras, and Sylvain Émard…
These various explorations, along with her initial passion for street dances, drew her particularly close to the work of Sofia Nappi, where she discovered a powerful blend of groove, theatre, storytelling, and embodiment—an intimate search between the inner self and expression. These influences continue to deeply shape her academic practice and inform her artistic philosophy.
Drawn to individual identity and unique personal signatures, she develops an instinctive movement language, deeply shaped by her sensations. Hortense is deeply interested in the human aspect of dance, as well as the emotional and energetic dimensions it entails. She finds calm and rest in nature, which remains her primary source of inspiration in her work as a performer.
