Call for Performers – The Red Shoes
We are seeking performers for the creation of an approximately one-hour work (The Red Shoes), to be presented to the public in 2028.
Requirements
- Advanced-level contemporary dance training (an intermediate level is acceptable for participants aged 14–16 or over 50, for certain sections of the work).
- Strong rhythmic skills, musicality, and expressiveness.
- Ability to improvise throughout the creative process.
- Singing or acting experience is considered an asset.
- Professionalism, openness, and a positive attitude.
- Available for a 3-hour rehearsal on weekends (not every weekend), between September 2026 and June 2028, in Joliette (schedule and calendar to be determined in collaboration with the artists).
- This is a semi-professional context, as no compensation is available during the creation period. Should the production generate revenue, profits will be shared.
- Working environment: enjoyment, commitment, and self-expression.

- Auditions: Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 492 Lanaudière Street, Joliette.

We will contact selected candidates with an invitation to the audition and all relevant details. The project will be presented in greater depth during the audition. Who We Are
- Christine Brabant, PhD, is a professor of education at the Université de Montréal. A dancer trained at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM) and the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), she will serve as the artistic and choreographic director of this project.
- The project benefits from the generous support of Symbiose Dance School, a cornerstone of the dance community in the Lanaudière region for more than 25 years.
