École de danse contemporaine de Montréal is currently seeking a Director of Communications and Marketing.
About EDCM
Specializing in the training of contemporary dance performers, EDCM is recognized as a centre of excellence in Canada’s performing arts sector. Known for the forward-thinking approach and rigor of its teaching, EDCM fosters artistic research, development, and the emergence of new creative movements. Since its founding in 1981, the school has trained more than 500 professional dancers who perform nationally and internationally.

Title: Director of Communications and Marketing

Reports to: Executive Director
Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the school’s communications, marketing, and promotional activities, while respecting the organization’s mission, strategic directions, and allocated budget.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic Support and Management
- Advise and support the Executive Director in organizational planning.
- Participate as a member of the management committee.
- Contribute to the implementation of the school’s artistic and educational vision.
- Develop the annual communications action plan and budget, and oversee its implementation and evaluation.
- Participate in negotiations with external suppliers and ensure agreements are respected.
- Represent EDCM with various partners and organizations when mandated.
- Supervise the Recreational Services Coordinator and ensure the quality of their work.
Communications Management
- Develop and implement EDCM’s communications, marketing, and promotional strategies.
- Plan communication strategies for the school’s various audiences.
- Ensure the development and consistency of the school’s brand identity.
- Write external communications materials, including newsletters.
- Support leadership teams in writing and revising reports.
- Maintain website content and improve digital tools and platforms.
- Manage social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, etc.) to maintain an active online presence.
- Plan and coordinate school events (open houses, school tours, graduation events, etc.).
- Provide strategic communications advice to the Executive Director.
Marketing and Development
- Create, produce, or oversee promotional and recruitment materials (brochures, flyers, posters, performance programs, etc.).
- Manage external contracts for graphic design, printing, translation, website programming, and related services.
Media Relations
- Plan media strategies, manage advertising placements, and oversee campaigns.
- Develop press relations materials, including press releases and targeted communications.
- Act as a primary contact for media relations.
- Monitor media coverage and maintain the school’s press file.
- Carry out other related duties as requested by the Executive Director.
Desired Profile
Education and Experience
- University degree in communications, marketing, writing, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in a similar role.
- Excellent written and spoken French.
- Excellent knowledge of English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of communication and promotional strategies.
- Strong understanding of digital technologies.
- Experience managing websites.
- Knowledge of the performing arts and/or education sectors is an asset.

Employment Conditions
- Permanent, full-time position
- 35 hours/week
- Salary according to the school’s compensation policy (EDCM’s salary scales are separate from those of Cégep du Vieux Montréal and are therefore lower than those in the CEGEP network).
