Communications Coordinator

About SMAQ

Les SMAQ is a young association representing more than 70 members from Quebec’s live performance industry. Its mission is to represent independent cultural venues and advocate for their interests with all levels of government. SMAQ also develops services and projects that support the professional development of its members and help them fulfill their mission.

Position Details

  • Start date: August 10, 2026 (flexible)
  • Status: Permanent
  • Hours: 40 hours/week (including paid lunch breaks)
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience
  • Languages: French (spoken and written); English is an asset

Role

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for SMAQ’s communications strategy and will lead special communications projects. The successful candidate is creative, collaborative, detail-oriented, and a strong team player. They will also support the communications needs of other key association initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the organization’s communications strategy in collaboration with management;
  • Maintain editorial calendars;
  • Lead and coordinate promotional campaigns;
  • Produce promotional content, including newsletters, press releases, website content, and social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn);
  • Manage the website;
  • Collaborate with the team, external partners, and the media to maximize the reach of initiatives;
  • Support grant applications and the annual report on communications-related matters;
  • Design and coordinate promotional visuals in accordance with established brand guidelines;
  • Supervise communications resources, including interns, agencies, videographers, and graphic designers;
  • Analyze campaign performance and prepare evaluation reports;
  • Represent SMAQ at industry events to enhance the organization’s visibility;
  • Coordinate communications for SMAQ’s professional development programs;
  • Perform other related duties based on skills and interests.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Education in communications or a related field is an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of and interest in Quebec’s cultural sector;
  • Highly proactive and self-directed;
  • Creative thinker;
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism;
  • Proficiency with collaborative work platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Airtable;
  • Familiarity with web and creative tools such as WordPress, Brevo, Elementor, Canva, and CapCut;
  • Excellent French writing skills;
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok);
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
