A not-to-be-missed training before your participation in Parcours Danse

This training is a part of the “S’initier à la diffusion” (Initiation to presenting) microprogram by La danse sur les routes du Québec

Do you want to make your show offer known to presenters? Would you like to discover the steps to follow in order to ensure effective follow-up with them? Do you want to develop a dialogue to seize opportunities for collaboration?

This training will allow you to develop professional relationships, take action toward your touring objectives, remain in the line of sight of potential presenters at the right time, and direct yourself toward the right people and the right venues. In a touring context where offers are numerous and presenters lack the time to evaluate all the proposals, it is imperative to work efficiently, with respect for partners and awareness of the issues surrounding your work.

This training includes a one-hour individual coaching session. This coaching will provide you with all the keys to effectively approach presenters and promote the touring of your projects.

Practical exercises, a participant workbook, and a list of tools will be shared during the training.

Objectives

  • Familiarize yourself with solicitation tools.
  • Acquire a working method to target presenters and maximize efforts.
  • Plan solicitations.
  • Recognize the interests and obstacles to a presenter’s engagement.

Who is this training for ?

For artists and cultural workers who have little or no experience in touring or who are just beginning their market development journey.

Instructors

Suzanne Beaucaire

Suzanne Beaucaire is a self-taught artist who refined her skills in the art of gesture (mime, acrobatics, clowning…) with masters and recognized institutions in Montreal and New York during the 1980s. After a rewarding “on stage” career spanning about ten years, Suzanne acquired other skills that enabled her to also promote projects coming from an artistic community she wished to support.

This marked the beginning of her deep commitment behind the scenes of creation. Since the late 1990s, she has contributed to the growth of well-known Montreal companies and has made national and international touring her preferred playground, adapting to the constantly changing challenges.

Since 2013, Suzanne has developed group training designed to instill knowledge and strategies to improve the work surrounding touring. The project quickly evolved, and a reworked version in the form of individual coaching is now offered. For about a dozen years, the method and tools developed by the consultant have helped support more than a hundred artists in the perilous challenge that is the touring of a stage work.

Additionally, Suzanne Beaucaire is involved in various boards of directors and committees that enhance her expertise and fuel her reflections on the presence of the performing arts in society.

Sylvie Pouliot

An experienced professional in the cultural field for over 30 years, Sylvie Pouliot is trained as an actress and stage director, with solid experience in artistic direction, cultural mediation, philanthropy, and strategic development.

She led a theater company and a training school for more than two decades, carrying out major projects on both local and international scales.

Since November 2024, she has taken on an important challenge: ensuring the general and artistic direction of the Centre des arts de Baie-Comeau. This role allows her to put her multidisciplinary vision to work in offering ambitious, vibrant, and accessible programming that highlights the richness of current creation and fosters renewed dialogue between works and audiences.
