Chercheur.se

Rayanne is a choreographer, performer, and dance researcher from Lebanon, currently based between Montreal and Beirut. Trained in classical ballet in Beirut, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Bioresource Engineering from McGill University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Ecosystem Management at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Her practice centers on collective memory, migration, and Levantine dance forms, particularly dabke. She has participated in artistic residencies and research programs in both Beirut and Montreal. Since 2023, she has been developing Dabke for One, a solo work created during the Big Bang program and later presented at the Beirut Choreographic Encounters. She is currently co-developing Buzur, a multidisciplinary project combining choreography, documentary filmmaking, oral archives, and live music. Her research explores the relationships between land, labor, geography, and dabke, examining how environmental and social contexts shape embodied cultural practices.
