Kate Manns

Interprète, Enseignant.e

Kate Manns is a contemporary dance artist from Calgary, Alberta. She began her training in a small studio before moving to Montreal in 2022 to pursue professional studies at L’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. Her practice is rooted in precision, form, and decision-making, with a strong focus on the body’s capacity for transformation and persistence.

Inspired by personal experiences of physical limitation and resilience, Kate approaches movement as a process of renewal. For her, dance is a constant negotiation—between control and release, structure and fluidity. A dedicated researcher, she approaches dance as both a physical and conceptual practice, seeking depth in movement and the spaces it inhabits.

Throughout her training, Kate had the opportunity to perform in works by Catherine Gaudet, Victor Quijada, Ohad Naharin, Sofia Nappi, and Dana Gingras among others. These experiences deepened her appreciation for demanding physicality, precise form, and the rich creative exchange that emerges in collaborative processes.

Kate is driven by a desire to share her art with others—to bring light and presence to the stage. She aspires to perform and collaborate with artists who challenge and inspire her, believing that dance is a powerful medium for connection and transformation.
