Contemporary Dance Classes

The École de cirque de Verdun is offering contemporary dance classes!

From September 15 to December 8, 2025

This course invites participants to explore contemporary dance through both an expressive and dynamic approach. Through a variety of movements, participants will develop greater body awareness, improve coordination, flexibility, strength, and endurance—all while enjoying the sheer pleasure of moving.

Contemporary dance also helps refine posture and movement quality—valuable assets for circus disciplines such as acro-dance, hand-to-hand, or aerial techniques. This course is open to adults who wish to enrich their artistic practice, stimulate creativity, and deepen their connection to movement.

Each class runs for one hour (1h00) on Mondays or Wednesdays.

The Wednesday group is designed for adults aged 50+.

Why take contemporary dance at the École de cirque?

Everything is movement:
All circus disciplines involve movement. Dance offers a way to understand the fundamental bases of movement, explore personal expression, and discover creativity.

Whole-body training:
Through a series of floor and standing exercises, participants develop dance technique focused on postural alignment, coordination, flexibility, strength, and fluidity of movement.

It feels good:
Through choreographic sequences and improvisation-based explorations, participants reconnect with the joy of moving—without a focus on performance—returning to the present moment, connecting with the body, and sharing dance with others.
