As They Strike Collective is looking for new members!

As They Strike Collective is a collaboration between contemporary dance artists Stefania Skoryna and Chloe Hart. As They Strike Collective’s mission is to meet the audience in their space by building a bridge between them and our contemporary dance practice. We believe in working with joy, unleashing the creativity contained in the relationship between the body and the imagination. We seek to infuse everyday life with a sense of wonder. Our approach is collaborative, both with performers and outside artists, such as composer Christine ML Lee, with whom we have worked since 2017. Our work has been produced by the City of Montreal, Les Amis de la montagne, Les Amis de l’insectarium, Festival Quartiers Danses, Festival SOIR, Festival Arts de Ruelles and Patro Villeray. We are also members of the RAR – Regroupement des arts de rue du Québec. You can see excerpts of our work here.

We are looking for members who would like to get involved for a minimum of 5 hours per month including administrative tasks and studio time. We are not looking for performers, but rather for new active members – artists willing to invest creatively and logistically in the mission of As They Strike. Our next goals are to disseminate our existing pieces, share our Creation & Movement workshops with different communities and then dive into new choreographic creations. Please note that since we do not have annual funding, we cannot offer an hourly wage for your investment, but as a collective we are committed to compensating ourselves for our work through grants, production opportunities and workshops.

If our mission and mandate speaks to you, please send us your CV and a short paragraph describing your motivation to participate in the collective to astheystrike@gmail.com. We will then set up meetings with interested individuals to discuss further. Meetings begin the week of September 5, 2022. We will take applications until September 23, 11:59pm. Selection will be made by the current members based on the mission of the collective.

We look forward to meeting you!
