Biographie

With a passion for dance in areas related to interpretation, choreography, and teaching, Maria is a Montreal based artist with a multitude of talents.

Throughout her childhood, Maria trained and competed as a provincial level gymnast. It is here that she learned her many acrobatic skills, but more importantly the discipline it takes to be a great mover and artist. In her teen years, she attended a school for the arts, where she developed her love for contemporary dance and artistic expression.

In 2008, Maria completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University. While completing her degree, Maria co-produced her first full length dance work entitled Close Quarters, in conjunction with fellow classmate and choreographer, Lara Kramer. During this time she also performed at the Art Matters Festival, Danses Buissonnieres, Pas de Danse Pas de Vie, and various other works.

Most recently, Maria contributes much of her free time to rehearsal direct for numerous pieces such as Fragments, choreographed by Lara Kramer, and The Duck Wife choreographed by Jenn Doan, presented at the 2010 Montreal Fringe Festival. Maria also works at the Akiva school, coaching and inspiring the up and coming gymnasts. Maria continues to audition for various dance companies, and aspires for greater achievements for her dance career ahead.
