Biographie

 

Née à Athabasca, en Alberta, Kate Stashko est interprète, chorégraphe et écrivain indépendante. Elle a étudié le ballet pendant deux ans à l’université de Calgary/School of Alberta Ballet, et ensuite elle a reçu son diplôme en danse contemporaine de The School of Toronto Dance Theatre en 2007.

Stashko a travaillé comme interprète avec m-body (Davida Monk), Helen Husak, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, Heidi Bunting, Jason Stroh, Parahumans Dance Theatre et The Chimera Project. Son travail a été presenté dans divers festivals en Alberta et à Toronto. Elle a crée et est interprète de the timely fragmentation of mme q avec Eryn Tempest pour le Expanse Movement Arts Festival en mars 2011 et elle a dansé avec Good Women Dance Collective pour la célébration des arts du maire d’Edmonton en avril 2011.

Stashko a été sélectionnée comme participante à la résidence Interrarium 2011 de Springboard Performance, au Centre des arts de Banff, et elle a travaillé comme directrice des répétitions pour Heidi Strauss et Andrea Nann Dreamwalker Dance Company. Kate est aussi instructrice de Pilates et elle écrit pour le magazine The Dance Current.

Elle est présentement interprète dans la nouvelle création de Ainsley Hillyard pour Expanse Festival 2012.

 

 

Born in Athabasca, Alberta, Kate Stashko is an independent contemporary dance artist and writer. After studying ballet for two years at the University of Calgary/School of Alberta Ballet, she graduated from the Professional Training Program in contemporary dance at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre in 2007.

Stashko has worked with m-body (Davida Monk), Helen Husak, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, Heidi Bunting, Jason Stroh, Parahumans Dance Theatre and The Chimera Project. She has presented her own work at various festivals in Alberta and Toronto, including creating and performing the timely fragmentation of mme q with Eryn Tempest at the Expanse Movement Arts Festival (March 2011) and performing with Good Women Dance Collective at Edmonton’s Mayor’s Celebration for the Arts (April 2011).

She was recently selected to participate in Springboard Performance’s Interrarium 2011 residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and has rehearsal directed for Heidi Strauss and Andrea Nann Dreamwalker Dance Company. Kate is a Pilates instructor and also holds the positions of Listings Editor and Staff Writer at The Dance Current magazine.

Upcoming, she is working with Ainsley Hillyard on a new project for the 2012 Expanse Festival.
