Biographie

Janelle Hacault is a professional contemporary dance artist and educator from Winnipeg MB, now based in Montréal, QC. She is a graduate of the Senior Professional Program at the School of Contemporary Dancers, trained actor, and holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Winnipeg. She has had the privilege of working with Nafro Dance Productions, Odette Heyn Projects, Stephanie Ballard, Have We Met? Productions, Nova Dance Collective, Gearshifting Performance Works, Alexandra Elliott Dance Inc, Lady of the Lake Productions, Riley Sims, Zorya Arrow, Treasure Waddell, the Flin Flon Arts Council, Young Lungs Dance Exchange, Ming Hon, Koba Entertainment Inc, and Compagnie Entitey/Jason Martin. She is co-founder of Nova Dance Collective, .6 Ricochet, and co-creator of thedancepost.org, an online dance hub focused on promoting dance education and performance for the professional Manitoba dance community. In 2016, her company .6 Ricochet toured to perform at SpringWorks Festival in Stratford, Ontario, NextFest in Edmonton, Alberta and ended their season by remounting ESSENTIA in Winnipeg, MB. That same year, she was choreographer and assistant director for Corner Of, a Little Sparrow Theatre co. production in this year’s Winnipeg Fringe, and also worked with Manitoba Underground Opera for their production of Orpheus in the Underworld at the Legislative Building. Janelle has taught at many schools and studios including Masterworks Dance Studio and Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and now teaches at École de Danse Variations School. She recently toured her collaborative creation with Jason Martin entitled, Falling, thanks to an artist residency through Danse à la Carte. Falling premiered in Toronto, ON through Dance Matters Dance Productions and then in Winnipeg, MB through a co-presentation by Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers this April 2017. Her past choreographic works include Overtaken, Lament, and Imprimatur. This spring/summer she will be participating in Transformation and Springboard.
