Cet atelier se concentrera sur la préparation du corps des participants, par le condition physique, en habilitant le bas du corps et libérant le haut du corps afin de retrouver la liberté de mouvement et l'activation de l’imagination.

En tenant compte du fait que le mouvement n’est pas égal à la danse, les participants choisiront donc certaines propositions aussi simplement que marcher, se lever ou se rouler, … avec scénarios imaginés et rendre visible phénomènes importants qui dans le monde ordinaire ne seraient pas possibles voir. L'imagination des participants est fondamentale pour sculpter leur propre danse, la condition physique augmentera leurs possibilités, mais leur sensibilité est nécessaire pour que l'acte de danser devienne un art.

En utilisant l’imagination, la preparation physique, la conscience de l’espace et le regard du public, ces derniers acquerront également des outils importants pour déclencher des dispositifs corporels qui leur permettra de danser. Par conséquent, leur danse pourrait alors être la réalisation de leurs propres rêves.

Bio:

Yesenia Fuentes est une chorégraphe, danseuse et enseignante. Toujours soulignant l’importance du processus de recherche et de création, Yesenia cherche à remettre en question l’absurdité et le creux de certaines dynamiques du monde contemporain tout en réfléchissant plus largement à l’existence et à la condition humaine.

Non seulement sa préparation rigoureuse, mais les différentes expériences et rencontres qu’elle a eues ont défini le style de Yesenia et ouvert la voie de la découverte par la danse. Née à Bogota, elle a déménagé à Montréal en 2001, où elle a obtenu un baccalauréat ès arts à l'Université Concordia. Depuis 2009, elle est déterminée à œuvrer pour l'unicité de sa danse et de ses méthodes de chorégraphie, dans lesquelles la pratique du butô a eu un impact énorme sur son travail. En janvier 2017, elle a commencé à donner des ateliers de butô dans lesquels elle a structuré des techniques apprises en particulier par les grands artistes du butô tel que Moeno Wakamatsu (www.moeno.com) et Masaki Iwana (www.iwanabutoh.com), entre autres.

Butoh workshop by Yesenia Fuentes

This workshop will focus in preparing participants' body through physical condition, empowering the lower body, liberating the upper body in order to find freedom of movement and activation of the imagination. Taking in account that movement is not equal to dance, participants will opt certain propositions, as simply as, walking, rising or rolling, … with specific imaginary to allow the body to be permeable by the environment and so make visible important phenomena that in the ordinary world wouldn't be possible to see. The participants' imagination is fundamental to sculpt their own dance, physical condition will enhance their possibilities, however participants sensibility is necessary for the act of dancing become a piece of art.

By using imagination, body physical condition, awareness of space and the gaze of an audience, participants will acquire important tools to trigger body devices, and then, dance could be the realization of their own dreams.

Bio:

Yesenia Fuentes is a choreographer, dancer, and teacher. Always underscoring the importance of the process of research and creation, Yesenia seeks to question the absurdity and hollowness of certain dynamics of the contemporary world while reflecting more broadly on existence and the human condition.

Not only her rigorous preparation but the different experiences and encounters she has had have defined Yesenia’s style and set up a path of discovery through dance. Born in Bogotá, she moved to Montreal in 2001, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts at Concordia University. Since 2009 she has been determinate to works towards the uniqueness of her dance and ways of choreographing, in which the practice of butoh has had an enormous impact on her work. In January 2017 she started giving butoh workshops in which she structured techniques learned especially by the great butoh artist such as Moeno Wakamatsu (www.moeno.com) and Masaki Iwana (www.iwanabutoh.com) among others.
